From Chuck Papa your Town of Fremont representative on the
Sullivan County RSVP & Office of the Aging Council
Nov., Dec 2005 Update
The new news is that the Sullivan County prescription cards are available to all Sullivan County residents. Age and income are not an issue to receive the card. To get the card, you may go to the administration building or to the Town Clerk’s office. You may also get it at the Government Center in Monticello at the Office of the Aging. This card is and can be used even if you have another prescription card. You cannot use both, but you can use one or the other.
Those of you who are on Medicare, they have a prescription card that is available, it is called “Plan D.” Check with Social security or with the Office of the Aging personnel. Remember the New York State EPIC card is still being used.
If you want to check on, and you should check on, the various Plan D programs that are being offered by Medicare, EPIC, AARP, Sullivan County Card and other private insurers. Remember, each plan may be different in that the monthly premium, deduction and or co-pay vary from one to the other. Study it well and choose the right one for you and your spouse. The Plan D programs are only available for senior citizens who are on Medicare. If you are also on Medicaid, contact your Social worker or the Social Security Department.
